ANVILS TANNED

This on paper was always going to be a tough call against promotion aspirants Leatherhead, who already assured of a playoff spot.

The Tanners settled quickly and with a blustery wind and slope in their favour and within the first 10 mins set out their stall, with first centre back Jamie Coyle firing over, Richard Avery then testing young keeper Zane Cambell Rose and Dan Johnson bursting down the flank but putting his final shot well wide, next coming several corners which the keeper Rose dealt well with, it was difficult for the Anvils to get out of their own half against this pressure, and it was no surprise when the visitors went in front on 14 when Kevin Terry on the right set up Tom Parkinson to open the score, within 3 minutes the visitors went further in front thro Richard Avery and Jerry Nnamani to make the score 0-3 and we had only been playing 17 mins.

For the Anvils it was like trying to hold the tide back, though Arnal Magna managed a shot at keeper Deren Ibrahim, followed by Akwasi Fobi - Edusei putting his cross into Ibrahim arms, other than a Karly Akehurst effort, followed by the ever industrious John Lansdale that was to be it in the first period.

For the Tanners the deluge continued with Ian Dracott firing wide and then another that only disturbed the Affordable Housing beyond, before Darren Smith added a fourth on 40, although keeper Rose got a hand to but was unable to divert. HT 0-4 Tanners.

Changes on the Anvil bench brought on Jamie Hills for Ade Akande and Tom Frankland for Francis Luke, Alex Addai continued to work the Tanners right flank and several times cut inside before running into heavy traffic, then came youngster Frankland setting up the giant Magna whose header was turned over by Ibrahim.

For the Tanners normal service was resumed on 54, when a build up by Ryan Mehal and Draycott let in the advancing Avery to claim his second and the Tanners fifth, a shot that keeper Rose flying across his goal could not quite keep out. 0-5 Tanners.

The Anvil rallied and created several chances at the Tanners end but keeper Deren Ibrahim was equal to them all. Further chances came and went for both sides but no further addition to the score, toward the end keeper Rose brilliantly dived to his left to keep out another shot from the hungry Tanners as the game ended. FT 0-5 Tanners.

A much better 2nd period for the Anvils.
