DOCKERS DOCK ANVILS POINTS

A 94th min own goal from a corner settled this match in which both sides were so evenly matched it would have taken a bread knife to have separated the sides at the end of normal time.

Dockers took up the early running with Brad Murray having a couple of sighters, followed by a long range effort from Craig Bunch that was easily taken by Anvil keeper Seb Bos,

The Anvils opened up themselves with a Ciaran Steers right wing cross that found Steve Haliday but from 25yds he was well wide, further buildups floundered in the final third thro either lack of bodies or misplaced passes, nearest possible chance came on the half hour with a Mo Shuga'a shot being fumbled on the line by keeper Jake Buss with Steve Major just unable to get a firm boot to the ball.

For the Dockers, chances were at a premium, with Ebou Jallow firing wide from a corner, and a scramble on the Anvil goal line to resist the determined Bunch, whilst at the other end a long cross field pass/shot by Blair Cooney landed on the top netting as the half ended. HT 0-0.

The homesters opened the half early with a Jallow free kick taken by Bos, but on 50 mins another chance for the Anvils came with a Shuga'a corner finding Major in space whose effort looked goalbound until striking a defender for a another corner, the Dockers then had a good spell with Scott Marshall firing wide and again the same player testing Bos.

Substitutions on the bench interrupted the flow with Cooney being replaced by Andy Goodwin, a long cross field ball then found Steers who set up striker Grant Rigler but the big man was pushed wide and his shot hit the top of the upright, with the clock ticking and both sides now finding more gaps one was always conscious of one mistake could cost one side the match, come 88 a long punt up field by keeper Buss found the dangerous Bunch in space but he could only balloon his shot into the nearby housing much to his verbal ire, surely that was it, game over a point a piece lets go home, but no not yet as the (90 + 4min) mark approaches and with it that final corner. FT 1-0 Dockers.

As we all know this game can at times cause a painful ending, but usually over the course of a season things tend to even themselves out, as they say its all history now and one just prepares for the next encounter.

Team: Seb Bos, Matt Gates, Mo Shuga'a, Blair Cooney (Andy Goodwin), Scott Johnston, Charlie Dodd, Ciaran Steers, Sam Cane, Steve Major (Luke Strangwood), Grant Rigler, Steve Haliday (Joe Ford).
