East Preston (1) 2 Crawley Down (1) 3
The Anvils produced one of their best performances of the season away at East Preston always looking dangerous going forward and solid at the back.
EP went ahead after 21mins in what was their first real attack and a questionable offside 1-0 EP
The Anvil's then had several attempts on goal before Martin Mutungi put them level on 41 mins. HT: 1-1
2nd half Again the Anvils took the match to EP and despite their dominance they just could not get any reward and against the run of play EP went 2-1 up after a cross was not cleared and a snap shot cannoned off Hass Shurmani and into the net. 1-2 EP.
All credit to the anvils as they pressed hard for the equaliser which duly came on 69 mins after Sam Cane hit home a loose ball after a goal mouth scamble 2-2.
EP came more into the game and Andy Greaves had to make several good saves to keep the scores level. CD rallied for the final 10mins and could have gone ahead but for a combination of the EP uprights and crossbar which denied the Anvils forwards. That was until U18 debutant Tom Hall came on for his 1st Senior match.
A clearance from the Anvil rear guard on 83 mins found Ciaran Steers on the right side who got passed a defender before sending an inch perfect pass to Tom Hall who turned and fired an unstoppable shot from outside of the box into the top corner of the EP net. 2-3 CDG.
A fully deserved victory and what a debut.
