Windy conditions at The Haven made it difficult for both sides. A draw was probably a fair result.

The Under 9 Girls squad enjoyed being Mascots for this match and were definitely the winners on the day

Crawley Down Gatwick settled for a point following a 1-1 draw against East Preston at the Haven on Saturday in the SCFL Premier Division.
The Anvils had the better of the first half although the visitors occasionally threatened on the break but half time was reached at 0-0.

The match came to life in the second half. The visitors took the lead after a cross from the left was met at the far post by Heryet who bundled the ball in. The referee consulted his assistant to see if keeper Andy Greaves had been fouled but, in the end, allowed the goal to stand.
Two minutes later Crawley Down were awarded a penalty for a push on Marc Pelling. The big defender was pushed into another East Preston player and sustained a severe facial injury that will keep him out for a prolonged period. Oli Leslie struck the penalty well but keeper Bentley was the hero as he dived to make a brilliant save.

The Anvils equalised five minutes later when a long ball over the top saw Josh Martin and the keeper get to the ball on the edge of the area at the same time with the ball bouncing off the head of a very brave Martin and rolling over the line.
