A cracking game at The Haven producing 8 goals. Only 36 supporters a bit of a disappointment with the quality on offer.

A great night for local football with both sides showing some exceptional flowing football throughout. The Anvils went one down before coming back to lead 2-1 at HT. Saltdean equalised 2-2 then the Anvils hit back to take s 4-2 lead. The Tigers pulled one back and then hit the equaliser on 95mins.

Match Report by Donal Barrett

Crawley Down and Saltdean United played out a very entertaining 4-4 draw at the Haven on Tuesday night. Yet again Crawley Down were denied all three points with an added time equaliser. In the end, despite a draw being probably a fair reflection of the game as a whole, the very late setback made it seem like a loss.

The Anvils were short of a number of regulars due to injury and unavailability but those who played did themselves and the Club proud against a visiting side that are unbeaten in the league and in second place in the early season league standings.
The Tigers took the lead in the 15th minute through Tariq Richards who capitalised on some lax defending to rifle a great shot past Andy Greaves. Crawley Down man of the match Harry Petty equalised on 27 minutes, finishing well after a slick passing move. Oli Leslie put the home side in front just before the break when he raced away from the defence and coolly slotted the ball into the corner past the on rushing keeper. HT 2-1 Anvils.
The visitors were fired up for the second half and after 52 minutes the prolific Ben Bacon had a simple tap in for the equaliser. The Crawley Down response was swift and emphatic as two goals in three frenzied minutes between the 59th and 62nd minutes from Josh Brown and Sam Cane saw them race into a 4-2 lead. At that stage it was looking good for the home side. However, as has happened so often this season lady luck intervened. As Saltdean attacked Andy Greaves attempted to punch clear but the ball struck Ben Bacon in the face and rebounded into the empty net. It was his 9th goal in 5 games but one he knew very little about. They all count.
As the game moved into added time it looked as if the Anvils had done enough to gain a second league victory. It was not to be. Michael Belli was penalised for what seemed to be a very harsh free kick and Curtis Gayler stepped up to fire an unstoppable free kick into the corner from fully 25 yards.
The Tigers celebrated their good fortune as if they had clinched the league title. The home side were deflated but as in every game this season there were huge positives for the players and management to take away from a super performance.
