A Minutes Applause was held before the match for ex Chairman Brian Suckling.

The Anvils gave a good account of themselves and more than held their own leading 2-1 before going down to 10 men early in the 2nd Half.

ROBINS PICK A POCKET OR TWO

A disappointing end result for the Anvils as they more then held their own for the first hour against a full strength Premiership side, but indiscipline whether right or wrong left the Anvils with an uphill task and any further advancement into the next round. The first quarter hour was fairly even with Ben Brooker being the main instigator of anything that was going, whilst for the Robins Michael Dea'th and Mark Price both tested Andy Greaves in the Anvil goal, play continued in an end to end scenario with Mike Spence and Sam Cane combining well before being blocked out, on 20 another build up between Dave Houlders and Josh Brown led to Cane having the final word which was taken with ease by Robins keeper Alex Harris.

With 25 on the clock the Robins started to get more into the game with their first corner by Josh Hawksey being taken by by Greaves, who was then called into action, this time from Mark Price as the Robins continued to press, come the half hour and it was Rowan Wallis turn but he could only shoot straight at Greaves.

For the Anvils tho having just as much of the play they were struggling to make an impression in the final third with usually the final ball being wasted or quickly snapped up by the Robins defenders, midfielder Mike Spence continued to work overtime in supplying the balls for the front runners, but to no avail, as happens the team that does the pressing can be caught out by the counter, as duly happened on 44 when from a Robins attack down the right flank led to Jonno Melia cutting in from the left to fire home the opener for the visitors. HT 0-1 Robins.

Kicking down toward the Kop End for the second half, the Anvils got off to a flyer within minutes of the restart when a corner by Brooker was struck first time by Cane which seemed to strike the bar and in off a defender to draw the Anvils level at one a piece 1-1, more was to come on 52 when from another attack Cane was allowed to drive forward and fire past Harris to put the Anvils in front for the first time. 2-1 Anvils.

On 56 Sub Andy Goodwin replaced Dave Houlders, then on the hour and the possible turning point of the match, when from more Anvil pressure an incident either in or outside the box led to a scuffle that grew in numbers as both sides pushed and shoved with the resultant outcome being a red card for the Anvils Ben Brooker and much uproar from the sidelines, personally speaking I would have thought Ben would have been the last person to be involved in this kind of thing, but Ben did retaliate and hence he got his marching orders.

This was probably the impetus the Robins required as they started to use that extra man and on 63 should really have equalised when Dea'th broke thro but blazed wide when in front of goal, on 64 the Anvils were caught asleep when a quickly taken freekick by Price found the unmarked Hawksey in space to equalise the score at 2-2.

On 75 MOM Spence who had worked like a trojan horse throughout then supplied Luke Trotter but the flankman could only head wide, on 80 Spence still battling a one man war against the Robins defence continued to set up chances that had the Robins rearguard working overtime to keep the Anvils at bay, on 82 a last throw of the Anvil dice had Oli Leslie and Lee Thomas replacing Cane and Brown, but with throwing caution to the wind the Anvils paid the penalty on 85, when a quick Robins counter found Price in acres of room to slide home the winning goal and give the Robins passage to the next round where Lancing await. FT 2-3 Hassocks.
