U18's are Champions of the Sussex Sunday league after defeating Faygate 8-0 in their final match of the season.

On Sunday 6th April 2014the U18's clinched the Sussex Sunday League title with an emphatic 8:0 victory over Faygate United. This under 18 team was put together from last seasons Copthorne and Crawley Down U16's both of whom were successful sides in their own right and both ending last season as League Cup winners in their respective leagues.

The season started with a win against Wellesley FC who proved to be a very physical side and this set the standard for the season. An early home game against Eastbourne Borough seemed to suggest that they would be the main challengers for the title and the south coast side managed to wrestle a draw in that encounter. As the season progressed the lads took on every side in the league and sticking true to their fast passing style of football using the width of the pitch teams found it hard to cope with them and steadily more victories were added to the mounting score. As an aside the County Cup provided opposition from other leagues with the team travelling to Southwick who at the time were placed second in the County League beating them 3:1. With a loss to Rymans League opposition in Three Bridges in the quarter final it was back to league action. A tough 2:1 victory away at Wellesley in a fantastic performance moved the team closer to a showdown game with Eastbourne Borough who were matching the U18's victory for victory. By the end of March the two teams met again. This was Eastbournes final fixture, the lads were three points behind Eastbourne but with a game in hand, nothing short of a win would be good enough to keep the title hopes alive. Eastbourne took an early lead however in a display of spirit, determination and hard work not to mention some wonderful football the lads thundered in three goals to shatter Eastbournes dreams and leave them stunned. Needing at least a draw this weekend the lads got off to a nervous start however once Harry Miller had started the scoring there was no going back with another seven goals following. The team finished the season winning every game bar one draw and no losses.

Colin and Mark said after the game 'We are extremely proud of the way the boys have played this season. They apply themselves and listen then work hard to play the way we want in games and this has produced some stunning football. They thoroughly deserve their title as undefeated champions of the league. The highlights were the games against Wellesley and Eastbourne Borough both of whom were older and more physical but the lads showed good football overcomes all. We are all looking forward to a greater challenge next season'.

Top goal scorers this year have been Stuart Cameron with 23 goals, Tom Hall with 14 from midfield, Jack Cornell with 10, Harry Miller with 8 and Myles Pitt with 7.
