Reds at home

The Anvils carried on their good form with a relative easy three points against a battling Selsey outfit who never gave up. The Anvils were the first to settle with an Oli Leslie cross being put over by Lee Thomas, just after it was Ben Brooker putting in a fine pass across the face of goal, that unfortunately went unheeded. Luke Trotter was next to try his luck with a shot that whistled past the far post.

For Selsey the long ball down the slope seemed to be their main objective with first David Rough finding Jake Jackson but his shot didn't trouble Anvil keeper Andy Greaves, on 10 mins Ben Mepham then set James Parsons free but his shot was well wide.

Come 13 however the Anvils broke the deadlock with Brooker setting up Thomas to open up the Selsey defence and head home the opener. 1-0 Anvils
Just like buses another tuned up shortly, driven you might say by a Harry Lowe pass to Thomas , centre back James Day then hits a great ball into the run of centre forward Ben Brooker who first time volleys past the stranded keeper. 2-0 Anvils

Anvils continued to rule the roost, with on the half hour Lowe trying out a freekick from distance that keeper Warren Boyt pushed away for a corner, the Anvils continued to take up residence in the Selsey half, but further chances for Brooker and Thomas went awry, highlight of the half could well have been skipper Blair Cooney’s lung busting run from box to box before eventually running into heavy traffic. The visitors final throw of the dice came with Howard Lowe heading wide and Toby Lempriere freekick being pushed away by Greaves. HT 2-0 Anvils.

With the Anvils now attacking the Kop End expectancy levels of further goals were high from the home support, and immediately an early goal scramble boosted those hopes, on 48 Leslie and Lowe combined to test keeper Boyt again, just after on 51 a result, with another Lowe corner which Luke Trotter met with a great header that crashed against the crossbar bar before dropping to Lee Thomas to tap home and into the net. 3-0 Anvils.

Selsey tho limited for chances still pressed whenever possible with Parsons heading a cross into Greaves arms, which was then followed by Rough with another freekick into the custodians arms.

The Anvils had the ball in the net shortly after the third goal when a Brooker cross was turned in by Luke Trotter but it was deemed to be offside, on 62 the Anvils claimed a legit goal with a Leslie charge down the right flank and the resultant cross that followed being tucked away by arch striker Brooker to put the Anvils further infront. 4-0 Anvils

Come 65 and it was all change on the Anvil bench with Mike Spence and Miles Pitt adding fresh legs and on 80 James Lovett also joined the fray. The game continued to be one way, but for all the chances that seemed to open up, the Anvils failed to improve the scoreline, and with the last quarter hour Selsey with fresh legs added, came more into the game with a Rough freekick being pushed away for a corner, and on 80 Sub Danny Harington with a glorious chance blazed over, it was finally left to Mepham on 87 to break thro for the consolation. FT 4-1 Anvils.
