Coopers Marauders kept up their rampaging goal scoring form with a hand of goals against their visitors today, making it a grand total of 20 goals in their last 4 cup and league matches, added beauty to this scoreline is that the goals are being spread amongst the team, not just perhaps relying on one or two players.
Saltdean started early with a Dan Rushman freekick sailing wide, followed by Craig Anderson's corner being taken by keeper Andy Greaves, gradually the Anvils started to find their rhythm and soon locked into their familiar passing routine, with first a Dave Houlders cross being nodded wide by Luke Trotter, just after Houlders again supplied the ammunition this time to James Day who blasted well over the visitors goal, on 15mins an interchange of passing between Houlders and Trotter saw the latters shot taken by the Salts keeper, by now it was becoming a bit one way, but somehow the finishing was not quite matching the approach play.
The Salts tho on the backfoot stuck to their task manfully, with the odd attack noticeably thro Rushman again but firing wide, on 30 Anderson broke free to set up Michael Page but the strikers shot was yet again well wide.
With both Ben Brooker and Sam Cane efforts being thwarted amongst these continuing attacks, nerves and tensions were finally relieved on 32 when a freekick alongside the corner flag by Harry Lowe found Trotter in space at the far post to nod home the Anvil opener. 1-0 Anvils.
Further attempts by Brooker and a Trotter cross being headed over by Sam Cane eventually bought the half to its end. HT 1-0 Anvils.

For the second half read the first, as the Anvils took up the cudgel, with Lee Thomas and that man Trotter both having shots covered by keeper Alward, come 57 and the nearest to a second goal came with a Brooker corner causing mayhem in the Salts box with shots by Trotter (post) and Cane (bar) and the big boot salvaged more respite for the Salts as the homesters sensed goals 'were a coming', on 60 Mike Spence was replaced by new signing Josh Brown from Horsham YMCA, more pressure from the Anvils began to tell on the Salts as Brooker fired over, but come 66 Brooker found space down the middle to run at the defence and fire home the third goal, by now the Salts defence started to open up, and a quick double from Thomas, the first running across the face to score and the tucking home a Houlders cross to put the Anvils 4-0 up and well in the drivers seat.
The final goal came on 73 with Cane bursting down the right channel then nonchalantly lobbing the keeper from outside the box to give a more realistic scoreline to the match as the Anvils finally signed off with further shots coming from strikers Cane and Brooker. The Salts under pressure for most of the half still fought on but the only real threat came from a Mark Howard shot saved, and a Pat Urban effort that also gathered. FT 5-0 Anvils.
PS...Yet another gem appears to have been found by Manager Paul with the introduction of 19yr old Josh Brown and to sum up the precociousness of youth he was only on the pitch for a few minutes when he charged forward and lashed a shot that thundered just over the bar!
