NEMESIS STRIKES OK
For the second time in 4 months, the Anvils met their nemesis in the dual form of the Dockers themselves and ace goal poacher Lee Robinson, all this at a very vocal Trafalgar Ground with the Anvils still 6/7 players light light.
The Dockers opened early with a James Rhodes effort being taken by Anvil keeper Seb Boss, the Anvils also went close themselves on 6 mins with a James Lovett free kick suitably well taken by keeper Jake Buss.
But on 9 and the shape of things to come, from another long ball had the Anvil centre backs exposed as Dockers Lee Robinson had a straight run and finished shooting past the exposed Boss.
Not to be outdone the Anvils came straight back with Dan Sullivan’s freekick being headed past the post by James Day, come 14 and another Sullivan free kick found Oli Leslie who laid it off to Ben Brooker who in turn was closed down, yet again just after another Lovett corner was headed over.
But come 17 and the Anvils were split open again, but the goal was disallowed for offside, however it on 24 a long ball from the Dockers defence again split open the central defence of the Anvils leaving Robinson to waltz thro and claim the Dockers second. 2-0 Dockers.
By now it was all hands to the 'Anvil pumps' as the Dockers turned up the heat with Anvil keeper Boss having to knee away a fierce Ebou Jallow shot and parry away another Robinson effort.
Anvils worked hard but although they matched the Dockers with chances none could find the back of the net. The half ended with the Dockers firmly in control. HT 2-0.
For the second half fullback Lovett who had taken a knock was replaced by Liam Hunter, on 52 an Anvil break found Brooker whose shot was parried away for a corner, which finished with Leslie heading over.
Come 54 and the Anvils achilles heel was exposed again when from another corner Robinson was able jink his way thro the back four for goal number 3, come the hour mark, Robinson again breached the defence taking a thro ball then outpaced the Anvil defenders to slot home number 4, 4-0 Dockers.
With further substitutions from the Anvil bench, Ronan Barrett for Ben Brooker and Lee Wood for Oli Leslie to try and get something from the game and the Anvils upped their work rate. Hunter’s free kick was fired straight at keeper Buss, and an Anvil corner was touched over by Buss. The Dockers rallied and from a rare attack at this stage Anvils Marc Pelling was shown a red card for retaliation after he himself was fouled. Even with 10 the Anvils matched their opponents and finished the stronger as the game finally drifted to the end.
