The much talked about 'game of two halves' was an apt quote in this match in which the Lancers took the first half with a two goal strike, whilst come the second half it was the Anvils turn to run the show adding a further goal leaving it all square come

Before punters and latecomers had taken their seats, the Anvils were already in front inside the first minute, when a combination of a Dan Sullivan cross and brother Nick in space, saw the latter slide the ball home to give the Anvils a surprise early lead. 1-0 Anvils.

The homesters continued to push on with newcomer Russell Malton catching the eye with some strong runs on the right flank, as the Anvils poured forward for a possible second goal. With 10 on the clock, though the Lancers started to push forward themselves, with Luke Donaldson and Lewis Finney starting to make noises upfront, and come 14 Donaldson was able to twist and turn thro the Anvil defence before firing home and restore parity 1-1. Minutes later Donaldson had another chance after picking up a pass from brother Bradley but with the goal gaping could only fire wide.

On 20 another Anvil break let in Nick Sullivan, but Lancers keeper Tyler D'Cruz was equal to the task, homesters Malton continued to look good with another strong run and cross that went unrewarded.

On 26 the dangerous Finney was involved for the second goal after Anvil keeper Seb Bos seemed to have been impeded coming out for the ball but the goal stood. 2-1 Lancers.

More effort from midfield thro Michael Belli and newcomer Sam Packham then started to boss the midfield, this in turn then bought twin strikers Leslie and Sullivan more into the game, as the homesters pushed forward in search for that vital equaliser, but the Lancers held onto their lead as HT was reached. HT 1-2 Lancers

No doubt words were spoken at halftime as the Anvils came out for the second half, and within minutes a combination of Malton, Belli and Oli Leslie saw the latter fire straight at D'Cruz, on 56 a couple of DanSullivan corners were hastily cleared, on 60 Belli scuffed a shot when in on goal, as the Anvils were now getting up a full head of steam, forcing the Lancers back, as Malton had another cross taken by D'Cruz.

The visitors not so much in the game still looked dangerous on the counter, with twice bringing keeper Bos into action collecting a couple of Lewis Finney crosses. But the Anvils on 64 finally opened up the visitors rearguard, when from a Dan Sullivan corner centre back James Day rose like the proverbial Phoenix to nod home the equaliser. 2-2.

With Anvil changes on the bench bringing on Ben Brooker for Leslie, plus Mike Spence having an airing the Anvils pushed forward looking for the winner and with panic setting in, the Lancers defence were lucky to hold out as the bar and post were hit and several close shaves thwarted the Anvils. Unfortunately though, the final note on 96 mins after a foul on Day ending in hambags both players were shown Red cards. Dan Sullivan took the free kick as the game ended all square. FT 2-2.

Team: Seb Bos, Russell Malton, Lee Thomas, James Day, Marc Pelling, Sam Packham (Mike Spence), Dan Sullivan, Michael Belli, Nick Sullivan, Oli Leslie (Ben Brooker), Sam Cane.
