Local bragging rights, plus points on the board, were the main criteria as these two rivals clashed yet again in front of a healthy three figure crowd at the Haven Centre, throw in a mixture of the elements above and one had a 'reet' old northern powerhou

Heath were the first to settle with an early Joe Dryer free kick being headed wide by centre back Tom Graves, and then just after Dryer himself shooting straight at Anvil keeper Seb Bos, on 15 mins from another attack the ball pinged around the Anvil box as shots reigned in, but Anvil bodies on the line refused to concede before being hacked clear.

The Anvils then started to make inroads with newcomer Festus Lori showing a 'clean pair of heels' down the left flank, then bringing Heath keeper James Shaw into action with a cross, striker Nick Sullivan then found space to force Shaw to push away his shot.

For the Heath a George Howard free kick then clipped the bar, whilst out left Dryer continued to cause problems with another shot that Bos turned away, then came a Max Miller free kick being blocked by the Anvil defence.

Come 25 and from increasing Anvils pressure a slip in the Heath rear guard opened up a path for Sam Cane to take advantage, holding his nerve to push on and slide the ball past the advancing Shaw. 1-0 Anvils.

This fired up the Anvils further as they started to push Heath back into defence, with Lori next having a thrilling run down the flank again, then finding Nick Sullivan who was then blocked off by defenders, on 35 brother Dan then found Lori who in turn found Mike Spence whose shot was easily taken by Shaw, final ending to the half came with Heaths Trevor McCreadie heading over. HT 1-0 Anvils.

With the Anvils now kicking toward the Kop, expectations were high for all Anvillian’s gathered, but the Heath were not going quietly with Dryer cutting in to blaze well over, then a Luke Docherty free kick being hacked clear, come 60 Heath’s George Fenton upended Lori and was red carded.

Come 65 and Lori chasing down the ball and colliding with keeper Shaw had to be leave the field of play with a damaged shoulder. On 88mins with the game nearing the end, came another incident, this time in the Anvil box with sub James Day being penalised for handball in the penalty area and subsequently Red carded. McCreadie fired home the Penalty to leave the game all square, a sickener for the Anvils who looked like they were going to take all three points, but probably a fair result on reflection. FT 1-1.
