A close encounter of the nervous kind, as the Anvils after dominating the first 45, were forced to play 'second fiddle' for much of the second 45.

Anvils took up the early running, with first Sam Cane putting Nick Sullivan clear for the first corner of the match, on 8 minutes Sullivan then found brother Dan who in turn blazed over the bar, on 12 another chance fell to Cane who lost a one on one chance with keeper Matt Dan.

For the visitors a long free kick from keeper Dan had Anvils Marc Pelling heading clear, followed by Craig Normans shot bringing a save from Anvils keeper Seb Bos.

On 20 Dan Sullivan breaking free, fed Nick who sidestepped a defender to slot the ball home.
1-0 Anvils.

Just after Nick was to the fore again when from a combination of Russell Malton and Mike Spence set free the striker but his header was just wide, come 28 and further Anvil success came with Dan Sullivan’s free kick finding the imposing Mark Pelling whose powerful header was to much for keeper Dan. 2-0 Anvils.

For the 'Uckers' not much to show so far until Matt Hollands run and cross taken was taken by Bos, followed by a Shaun Loft effort also taken by the keeper.

Setback for the Anvils came on 35 with young fullback Josh Martin who had taken a few knocks was then forced to retire, with Michael Belli filling the berth, fellow youngster Festus Lori showing a 'clean pair of heels' then slipped through to to bring a further save from the Uckfield keeper.
HT 2-0 Anvils.

The second half would prove to be a watershed for the Anvils, as Uckfield suitably roused no doubt after a 'few words' said at HT came out more determined to get back into the game and with the Anvils having to re-shuffle after injuries the pressure started to turn in Uckfield Towns favour. Andrew Hales was first to show taking advantage of a free kick to whip in a cross that whistled past the far post, followed by Anthony Storey’s corner causing confusion in the Anvil box, as the visitors started to turn up the volume.

For the Anvils Lori continued to cause problems with his pace and trickery and although he found the net on the hour he was ruled offside. The Uckers were however coming more into the game, with Loft and Holland having shots scrambled away, but come 67 and their persistence paid off, when a corner from Matt Barbosa found the head of Holland who powerfully headed home. 2-1 Anvils and game on as the visitors started to pour forward, with another Barbosa cross being headed clear by Bos, soon after a Storey free kick found Matt Black who turned sharply to test Bos yet again. For the Anvils Spence was working hard to get the Anvils up field, on 70 newcomer Johden de Meyer replaced the hard grafting Nick Sullivan, and on 85 a free kick from Williams Peauroux found de Meyer, but he was unable to give his shot much venom. FT 2-1 Anvils.
