Anvils on Tuesday night continued their fine run of league form (one defeat in the last eight) with another hard earned three points against YM, which after tonight’s results saw the Anvils pushed up into the rarefied air of seventh in the league table

As stated it was a hard fought, end to end game with no holds barred, with the Anvils going ahead after just 2 minutes when a cross from the left found the imposing Marc Pelling in space to nod home a bullet header for the Anvil opener. 0-1 Anvils.

YM suitably roused started to put the Anvil defence under pressure, whilst the Anvils were always ready to counter attack as soon as moves broke down. The homesters after the early setback went near just after the Anvil opener with Sam Schaaf and Dave Brown combining to have the latters header hacked clear, on 10 an Ollie Gill cross could only find Anvil keeper Seb Bos. The had Johden de Meyer testing keeper Jeal, followed by Dan Sullivan’s free kick across the face, followed by Russell Malton’s shot straight at the keeper.

The game continued to be 'nip and tuck' with both sides trying to gain ascendancy, with YM's Liam Humphrey's guilty of firing over when faced with an open goal, then followed a piece of 'ping pong' in the Anvil box, as the ball cannoned off woodwork and bodies before being cleared up field. On the half hour an Anvil corner found Mike Spence whose shot was cleared off the line, Spence then set up Sullivan but the flank man could only blaze over and soon followed by de Meyer doing likewise. YM were not to be denied and duly got their reward on 43, with Gill springing the offside trap to run thro and fire past the exposed Bos, all square at one a piece.
HT 1-1.

The Second Half continued in the same frantic vein as before, with Oli Leslie being crowded out before he could shoot and on 55 it was Malton setting free Sam Cane, but the resultant shot was wide of the target, on the hour mark Festus Lori joined the fray, no doubt to inject more pace down the flanks. Come 63 from another Anvil sortie a push in the back, whilst in the box, prompting the usual penalty cries of 'For and Agin', the former getting the vote and Williams Pearoux applied the 'coup de grace' 2-1 Anvils.

YM pushed forward trying to cancel out the Anvil goal with Evans cross finding Bos, a corner that flashed across the face. Subs from both benches then joined the action as the temperature continued to rise, but the Anvils 'were not for turning', and indeed the pacey Lori twice went close, setting up Sullivan, then shooting at Jeal. Harry Lowe playing for the first time for a while, looked as if he had never been away supplying the eager Anvils forwards with laser like accuracy. Time finally ran out for YM as the Anvils played out time and deservedly took points. FT 2-1 Anvils.
