Anvils continued their rich vein of form today, after going behind twice against the run of play, and then getting a well deserved late winner.

Anvils were first to settle with a Dan Sullivan free kick just evading Johan de Meyer, this was then followed by Marc Pelling and Sullivan again with further free kicks that both went unattended as the Anvils continued to 'pull the strings'.

For the Mullets, they failed to really trouble the Anvil backline, although Don Jarvis went near with a cross, followed on 25 by Lee Mottersheed having his shot taken by Bos, but the Mullet striker was not to be denied on the half hour as he opened the homesters account with a lob that cleared keeper Bos and hit the back of the net. 1-0 Arundel.

This was a shock reversal for the Anvils who then started to pour forward in numbers, with Nick Sullivan though being shackled for most of the game, managing to set up Oli Leslie but the strikers shot lacked venom to trouble Mullets keeper Lewis Boughton, but on 32 the Anvils drew level when a through ball down the middle opened up the Mullets defence leaving Leslie to run on and shoot past the exposed keeper to restore parity at a goal a piece. 1-1.

Just after the Anvils opener Williams Peauroux found the net, but he was ruled offside as halftime was reached with no further additions to the score line. HT 1-1

Second half had the Anvils now facing the lowering sun, as the Mullets started to 'ping' high balls into the Anvil half, and come 53 they took full advantage, with Josh Biggs long free kick from 40 yrds evading keeper Bos who possibly lossed the ball in the sun as he tried to keep the ball out pushing it up against the underside of the bar and in, thus giving the homesters the lead once more 2-1 Arundel.

The Anvils now suitably roused, upped the tempo once more and on 67 after a lot of pressure Dan Sullivan’s free kick from just outside the box, flew into the corner of Boughtons goal, two a piece and game on. 2-2

At this point both sides were trying to force the pace to get their noses in front. The Mullets with a Lewis Jenkins corner flashing past the Anvil face, but with no takers, on 70 it was Shaun Brazil an exciting player with his pace and movement that stretched the Anvils at times.

Kieran Greig and Lee Thomas joined the action as the Anvils went for gold, with Peauroux shooting wide and Thomas firing across the face, but with the game now into added on time there were scares at both ends, but come 94 and the winner, with a melee in the Mullets box being cleared and then intercepted by the Anvils with the resulting cross headed onto the crossbar by James Day, not to be denied though, Oli Leslie climbed to head in the rebound. Wild celebrations as Leslie was buried under the now customary pile of bodies, to celebrate an excellent finish to an exciting game. FT 3-2 Anvils.
