With both sides locked together on games played and points accumulated, a close game was expected, borne out by a first half in which both sides seem to cancel each other out.
The Dockers made the early running with an Ian Robinson shot that had Anvil keeper Seb Bos punching clear, a dangerous free kick then followed with Anvils Marc Pulling heading clear, come 10 minutes and a Ebou Jallow free kick then drifted across the face.
After this early burst the Anvils started to get into the game, and on 7 a Dan Sullivan free kick found Pelling but keeper Jake Buss was equal to the task, Michael Belli then took advantage of a Oli Leslie thro ball but his finish was gathered, come 20 and Blair Cooney on one of his charges down the right flank found Nick Sullivan but his header drifted wide. The Dockers at this point found themselves pushed onto the back foot, tho Ian Robinson did break thro to test Bos again, but generally the Dockers front line fizzled out against a resolute Anvils defence.
For the Anvils on 25 a build up from midfield led to a hurried Docker clearance that only found Leslie, but the tall striker could only fire over, on the half hour it was Nick Sullivan heading wide, whilst brother Dan then followed suit, lashing a shot that cleared the bar but generally both sides were cancelling each other out come halftime. HT 0-0.
Come the Second Half the Anvils got off to a flier on 46, when an infringement on the edge of the box led to a free kick being given, this in turn was then expertly tucked over the wall and home by Dan Sullivan, passing bemused keeper Jake Buss into the top right hand corner of his goal.
1-0 Anvils.
The Dockers then started to push forward more with Wooven testing Bos, then later with Lee Robinson forcing Bos to scramble the shot away. Come the hour mark and Nick Sullivan probably not quite getting enough purchase on the ball, saw his shot scrambled away just inches from the goal line. On 70 it was all change on the Anvil bench with reserve team player Ben Wilson getting his first Senior outing, replacing Leslie, and just after Johan de Meyer came on for Mike Spence.
Play remained fairly even from then on, with both sides having chances, with Kyle Wooven twice striking the woodwork, and sub Michael McCormick missing an open goal for the Dockers. Anvils Nick Sullivan then had a shot cleared off the line, however with just 7 remaining, it was left to Anvils Johden de Meyer to apply the 'coup de grace' picking up a superb through pass and running through the Dockers open defence to expertly notch the second. 2-0 Anvils.
Lewis Croal making his debut for the Anvils came on for Dan Sullivan for the last 5 mins and with no further chances for either side being created the match ended with three more points and a second clean sheet in a row. FT 2-0 Anvils
