Anvils open league campaign with a good win at Saltdean Utd

Saltdean started well pressing the Anvils hard but never really troubled a very well drilled defence. The Anvils also working very hard started to penetrate the Saltdean rearguard going close on several occasions. The pressure finally told on 18 mins after Lewes Croal battled through and under pressure squared to Michael Wood who calmly slotted into the far corner to put the Anvils 1 up. Further chances came and went for both sides but no changes in the scoreline at HT Saltdean Utd 0 CDG 1

2nd Period was fairly even in terms of possession but The Anvils always looked the more dangerous going forward and with Saltdean becoming more and more frustrated the Anvils had several chances to kill the game off. Saltdean's keeper did very well at one point to nullify 3 consecutive point blank shots before finally conceding on 90 mins the Anvils 2nd, Mike Spence dancing through the Saltdean midfield and defence and before supplying Nick Sullivan with the easiest of tap ins at the far post. FT Saltdean Utd 0 CDG 2.

MOM: Very difficult to choose after so many creditable performances but Josh Martin & Josh Brown tied for the Honour.
