Under 15 Anvils win 4-0 v Crawley & Maidenbower Panthers Royal in Plate Trophy final.

Crawley Down Gatwick U15s Anvils lifted the Mid Sussex League Plate Trophy for the second time in three years with a 4-0 win in Sunday’s cup final against Crawley and Maidenbower Panthers Royal.

This is the second achievement so far this season for the U15s squad, as the Hammers (the B team) have already won promotion from Horsham League Division Three.
The Anvils, who play in Mid Sussex League Division Two, reached the cup final the hard way, beating current Division Three leaders Galaxy Thunder 8-3, Division Two promotion rivals Lewes 6-4 after extra time and Division One side Mile Oak Wanderers 4-2 in the semi-final.

In Sunday’s cup final, Crawley Down Gatwick ran out convincing 4-0 winners against a battling Crawley and Maidenbower side, who made a good contest of it. Goals came from Archie Shorland, Jack Finch, Arya Rajabali and Kyle Marshall, while joint captain Bradley Smith was Player of the Match.

This age group has now won eight sets of medals – either winners or runners-up – in the last seven seasons, which is a fabulous achievement and the Anvils are also still battling for promotion this season.
