A disappointing result for the Anvils, as hopes of an Anvil run in the FA Cup were dashed by AC London, who proved that though a Step lower, in the FA Cup work rate wins the day.

Going ahead after just 7 mins through right midfielder Ed Morias, who from out wide surprised all when he thumped one of those wonder goals from the tightest of angles.

The Anvils give them their due then replied thro Oli Leslie on 17 mins surprising the London defence with a jiggling run and neat chip into the far corner of the net to restore parity. Just after came a Dan Sullivan free kick across the face and on 25 it was Lee Thomas striking wide, but generally London had the upper hand with Mike Daley striking the upright and then repeating the action on 30. The half finished at one apiece in gale force wind conditions, lightening and torrential rain as players made a hasty retreat to the dressing rooms. The Anvils video man seated somewhat precariously on top of the stand being also forced to seek terra firma somewhat sharpish.  HT 1-1.

Second half the weather completely changed with the sun now out, but with the pitch rain soaked and starting to cut up causing both sides to slip around, but AC London were starting to take to these conditions easier and on the hour mark took the lead when Morias picking up a mislaid pass in the Anvil Midfield then cut inside evading half dozen pairs of Anvil legs before cheekily back heeling the ball home. 2-1 AC London.

Anvils had several good chances to get back on terms with Kieran Grieg and Michael Belli both going close with shots saved by keeper Jefferson. Changes on the bench for both sides initially slowed the game down as players found their feet and play became a little stifled in midfield for long periods. AC London were then presented with a gift on 74 when an Anvil midfield pass back on the halfway line was intercepted by Saidou Khan who had acres of space to run into behind the Anvil defence and squared the ball to Kieron Dowding to apply the coup de grace. 3-1 AC London.

The Anvils however picked themselves up and started to put more pressure on the London defence who had decided to shut up shop at this stage. Pressure however lead to a foul in the London box and Nick Sullivan duly dispatched in the final minute, to bring the score to a more respectful close 3-2. AC London.

Overall I guess a disappointing result but you have to hand it to the visitors for their work rate and continued pressure all over the park. Both of their second half goals were due to mistakes by the Anvils but caused through AC London’s constant pressure.
